Death Camas

“This one is called Zigadenus venenosus or Death Camas. It’s one of the earlier plants to come up in the year, but it comes up at the same time that Wild Onions come up, and they both contain bulbs that look very similar. And also the flowering part is very similar, the Wild Onions are more white, these are more creamy looking. So if you know that, you’re ok. And only Wild Onions will smell like Wild Onions, these won’t. So it’s good to use your nose if you’re going to collect Wild Onions.”
