Fossilized Rhino Tooth

“This is a premolar to a Blue Rhinoceros. It’s probably between 34 and 37 million years old. That’s really neat. That sediment is pretty solid, this thing came out of a concretion. Rhinos are not uncommon to the Badlands, but in the area that we’re in they’re not that very common at all. So it’s kind of exciting to see one of these little guys. This is one tooth. So how I can tell, is I know there is a ridge here that goes along the lip, there’s a ridge coming down here, there should be another ridge in here it’s probably buried in the rock. It kinda loosely makes the Greek letter Pi. And that’s upper tooth crown pattern in Rhinos.”
