Mission Command

“I like to think of it as an object lesson not to get into Nuclear War, but it was a very popular video game during the Cold War. Along with a lot of the other very simplistic Atari programs for the time period. The gentleman who wrote this was actually really new to it, he had only worked on one other video game prior to this one. It was the first one he got assigned as being the lead on. And he got really involved in the thought process behind nuclear war and defending these cities and having these missiles, the whole concept of anti-ballistic missiles. And he got so involved in the thought process that he turned this into an object lesson, because you don’t ever really win the game. There’s no way to win. And it’s the only video game he ever made.”
